MacBike has been a well-known name in Amsterdam for more than 30 years. And we’re proud of it! You may know us as a bike rental company, but did you know that the locals can also come to us for maintenance and repairs? We have four bike repair shops in the center of Amsterdam and have been repairing the bikes of our fellow citizens for 30 years. We do this expertly, quickly and with love for the bike. To help our customers even better, we are immediately looking for a bicycle mechanic.
As a bicycle mechanic, you are the indispensable link in our team. You are engaged in repairing and maintaining bicycles and also sell bicycles, articles and/or accessories from the store.
A working day looks like this:
- You make our customers happy with a wide variety of bicycle repairs
- You will have to deal with a lot of variation in the work that can differ per assignment but there is also a lot of routine work
- You will ensure that the rental bikes are ready to ride and you will help with the bike rental
- You work in a nice team in a dynamic company with an informal atmosphere where humor and collegiality are appreciated
- You learn to perform more complicated bike repairs if you have not yet mastered them and there is plenty of room for your personal input
As a bike mechanic at MacBike, you are:

- Stress resistant: you keep a cool head when a store is full of customers and you know how to set priorities,
- Independent: you can work well in an informal environment, keep an overview and pick up tasks yourself,
- Team-minded: you enjoy working with colleagues and ensure good transfer and coordination and help a colleague if the situation (or the colleague) asks for it,
- Multilingual: you speak excellent Dutch and English – other languages are of course welcome,
- Bike enthusiast: from cargo bike to children’s bike and from student bike to racing bike – everything is covered,
- Flexible: you are willing and available to work between 28.5 and 38 hours per week on a rota basis, spread over 7 days per week – with extra allowances for Sundays & holidays!
MacBike offers you, among other things:
- An excellent salary and conditions in accordance with CLA Motor Vehicles and Engineering (MvT):
- At full time (=38 hours per week):
- between € 2,100 and € 2,300 gross per month
- 192 vacation hours and 19 compensation hours per year
- 4-day working week
